Stars of the big screen have hit the red carpet for the 95th Oscars, with Lady Gaga stealing the spotlight in a wild sheer gown.

Lights, couture, action … Oscars day is finally upon us.

The 95th annual Academy Awards are taking place today, with Hollywood glitterati gracing the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to celebrate the best in show business over the past year.

Everything Everywhere All At Once leads the charge with 11 nominations, and is a firm favourite to take out the pinnacle Best Picture prize.

But tinsel town’s night of nights is as much about the glamorous gowns as it is the gold statues (you can follow the ceremony updates here).

And who else but Lady Gaga to steal the style spotlight?

The singer-turned-actress, who is performing her nominated song Hold My Hand at the ceremony, stepped out in a breathtaking, sheer Versace gown:

In a break from tradition, the Academy has ditched its red carpet for the first time since 1961, replacing it with a champagne-coloured carpet, much to the dismay of Jamie-Lee Curtis.

She took to Twitter to say, “Apparently at the Oscars, their carpet is going to match my drapes.”
