Cordell Broadus, son of Snoop Dogg, leaves UCLA football again

August 8, 2016 at 19:04

Broadus played high school ball at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas and was the rated as the third-best prospect in the state in 2015.
Broadus, the son of famed rapper Snoop Dogg, was not listed on UCLA’s roster as preseason camp began Monday morning. After practice, Bruins head coach Jim Mora told reporters that Broadus, a wide receiver, is pursuing other interests.

Broadus signed with the Bruins as a highly-rated four-star recruit in the 2015 class. However, he opted to put football aside before his first season to pursue his filmmaking aspirations as a UCLA student.

Broadus returned to the team as a walk-on for spring practice, but ultimately decided football just wasn’t for him. In October 2015, a few months after his initial departure from the game, Broadus posted on Instagram that he played football for his dad.

“I played football for my father because I thought that was the only way he would love me and be a part of my life,”Broadus wrote. “It took me 12 years to realize he loves Cordell Broadus the person not Cordell Broadus the football player. The best day of my life was when I heard those exact words.”
