It was such an interesting departure from her normally flashy pop star performances.
Last night Miley Cyrus was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and she totally blew us away with an amazing cover of Bob Dylan’s “Baby I’m in the Mood For You”!

It was such an interesting departure from her normally flashy pop star performances.

Instead of her regular fare of a big stage with lots of high production details, Miley simply just sang, and that is what is so great about this cover.

Don’t get us wrong, we love Miley for her own brand of music, it’s just that it’s so cool to hear her perform without anything extra. The entire song is just her and The Roots making music, and that’s why it’s totally perfect. She really shows off her unique Southern accent in the song, and along with Dylan’s classic folksy lyrics the cover totally gives us echoes of her dad Billy Ray, in the best way possible.

Never one to clam up and not speak her mind, Cyrus even took a moment to pause in the middle of the song to comment on the recent controversy Fallon had with having Donald Trump on the show.

Cyrus playfully said, “There is nowhere that I would rather be than right here in New York City playing this song with The Roots, and being here on Jimmy Fallon. Let’s all give it up for our host, who is always so much fun, unless you’re Donald Trump. And then don’t even think about messing with my hair, I’m serious.

According to The Huffington Post, Cyrus is definitely not a Trump fan and has voiced criticism about him in the past, so this break in the song was definitely just to support her friend Jimmy Fallon. While much of this isn’t what we’re used to seeing from the superstar, it’s still incredibly Miley.
