Sir Patrick Stewart wants US citizenship to fight Donald Trump

And it sounds like Sir Patrick Stewart now wants to bring a little bit of Professor X's telepathic genius to real life.

But his latest foe is not a mutant - although he is in charge of a superpower.

Yes, now that he's decided to quit the X-Men franchise, Sir Patrick seems to have decided to pick a real life fight.

Murmurings of his political discontent began with this tweet...

Had the worst sleep of my life last night. But I was sleeping less than 300 yds from where Donald Trump sleeps. Could there be a connection?

Then he went on American chat show, The View, and was asked about his thoughts on the new President. And that's when the gloves came off.

Clearly moaning from the sidelines is not a lifestyle choice endorsed by the 76-year-old.

Talking about Trump he stated:

"I am now applying for citizenship. Because I want to be an American too," he says.

"All my friends in Washington said there is one thing you can do. Fight, fight, oppose, oppose.

"But I can't do it because I'm not a citizen."

Not everyone loves the idea though...
