5 year oldFresh Off the Boat will return for a sixth season on ABC, which ordinarily might be considered good news. Series lead Constance Wu, on the other hand, wasn’t initially thrilled when the renewal was announced Friday evening. In a series of tweets shortly after the the news broke Wu wrote “So upset right now that I’m literally crying.” On Saturday the actress has posted a lengthy update, revealing that the renewal created a scheduling conflict with another project that “would have challenged me as an artist.” She continued, “People ‘assumed’ that meant I don’t love and enjoy FOTB. According to Deadline, Wu even responded to the Fresh Off the Boat Instagram announcement with a “dislike,” before deleting the comment. The apparent outburst naturally made headlines, leading Wu to follow up claiming her words were taken out of context.
