Pirro's interview on 'The View' was heated and was cut off by Whoopi Goldberg, who said, "I'm done."

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, making the rounds to promote her new book, Liars, Leakers & Liberals, made a stop in unfriendly territory on Thursday when she appeared on The View.

Right off the bat, Pirro was questioned by former Fox News contributor Meghan McCain, who asked whether she was considered for the Supreme Court nomination that went to Brett Kavanaugh.

"I speak to the president quite often, but there was no discussion about me being on the Supreme Court," Pirro said. "And I think that's what he means by 'fake news.'"

The View co-host Sunny Hostin, who pressed network anchor Bret Baier in May on whether it's "appropriate" for his colleague Sean Hannity to chat regularly with the president, asked Pirro about the "rumor" that she has lobbied to replace Jeff Sessions as attorney general.

"I'm trying to answer your question," Pirro said when Hostin pressed her for an answer.

Pirro, a regular defender of the president, pushed back on criticism of Trump's much-maligned summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

She also bristled at a question from CNN contributor and frequent Trump critic Ana Navarro. "I'm not here to talk about what Donald Trump is and isn't," said Pirro. The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg retorted, "No, you've got to answer the question." Later, Goldberg and Pirro got into a shouting match, which Goldberg ended by saying, "Say goodbye. Bye. I'm done."

Pirro reportedly interviewed Trump for her book, which also includes on-the-record comments from White House counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway and the president's son, Eric Trump. The book, which paints a largely sympathetic portrait of the president, includes abundant criticism of the "fake news" media and the "leakers" she argues are in cahoots with the industry.

Liars, Leakers & Liberals also makes clear the extent of Pirro's long-standing relationship with the president. At one point in the book, she recounts an incident that occurred while she was flying back from Florida with Trump and his family. "I got it in my head that I wanted to fly the plane since I'd been taking flying lessons in a Cessna 152," Pirro wrote. "The guys flying the jet were real sweethearts. The captain let me into the cockpit, and the co-pilot gave me his seat. After being at the controls for a few minutes, Donald knocked on the cockpit door. 'Jeanine,' he said, 'Eric's feeling a little sick. It's a little bumpy.'"
