Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Florida: what we know

A shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, has left at least 14 people injured, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooter is now in custody. Officials have not yet released the shooter’s identity or motive, but police said he’s male.

What we know

• At least 14 people were injured during a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office reported.
• There have been some deaths, officials said, but so far there is no official estimate as to how many.
• Around 2:30 pm, a fire alarm went off, then shooting began, student told CBS News.
• A suspect is now in custody, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
• Investigators believe there was only one shooter, CBS News reported.
• Police previously told people to avoid the area, and asked students to remain barricaded.
• At least some students are now being let out of the school.
