And still only got a two count.

While it may not have been given the most play in the lead up to the show, WWE decided to close its SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) tonight (Sun., Aug. 21, 2016) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with the Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton match that has been, according to their promotion, 15 years in the making.

Also, it was Raw vs. SmackDown!

Lesnar went beast mode early but Orton had him scouted and used the ropes to avoid the first suplex. Then he tried a quick RKO but Brock pushed him off and it looked like we were going to get every Lesnar match we've gotten since his return. Just a vicious beating with German suplex after German suplex after German suplex.

Sure enough.

Orton didn't make any kind of comeback until Lesnar had him on the announcer's desk and The Viper hit his patented RKO OUTTA NOWHERE. When Brock climbed back into the ring, Orton hit his draping DDT. When Brock stood up, Orton hit yet another RKO.

And still only got a two count.

Orton actually teased bringing back the punt but Lesnar countered with an F-5. That, too, only got a two count.

That led to Lesnar getting on top of Orton and just clubbing him. Most of the shots were worked but there were a couple that weren't, one of which was an elbow that looked like it was designed to open up a cut. Orton covered up and when he came up from it, he was bleeding profusely from his head.

They attempted to tend to his wounds but Brock pushed medical people out of the way to keep the assault up. Eventually, they called for the bell and it was announced that Lesnar won by TKO.

After, Shane McMahon came out to check on Orton and Lesnar gave him an F-5 for his troubles. Paul Heyman did not like this one bit.

The show ended with Lesnar walking away.
