Bobby Brown is sharing new details about his marriage to the late Whitney Houston – and the drug use that would eventually contribute to her death .
Brown says in his upcoming memoir Every Little Step that he first saw Houston doing drugs on their wedding day, prior to the ceremony.
The 47-year-old singer recounts the moment to in a candid interview with ABC News'Robin Roberts on 20/20 – set to air tonight at 10 p.m..

In his book, Brown writes he broke tradition and peeked in on Houston prior to the ceremony, and was "shocked" to witness Houston "hunched over a bureau snorting a line of coke." Houston offered Brown a hit, he claims, but he didn't indulge. Brown also writes his bride-to-be said she was indulging in the illegal drug because she was "nervous." "She wasn't that," an emotional Brown told Roberts. "The drugs wasn't her. She did drugs but drugs didn't do her. She knew how to handle herself. It only made me love and want to protect her more."

Brown's account refutes previous claims that it was Brown who led Houston to heavy drug use .
"It wasn't me who started her," Brown says. "I take my part and I take it hard for me even being a part of it, but we all have our own minds and some of us are stronger than others." This isn't the first time Brown has made that claim. The singer insisted to Matt Lauer in a 2012 Today show interview that drugs were part of Houston's life "way before" their relationship. He went on to say he didn't get high [on narcotics] before he met Houston. "I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn't the one that got Whitney on drugs at all," he said.

"It's just unexplainable how one could, you know, [claim that I] got her addicted to drugs," Brown continued to Laurer – adding that it pained him to hear fans suggest he was responsible. "I'm not the reason she's gone. It makes me feel terrible. But I know differently. I think if anyone ever knew us, if anybody ever spent time around us instead of time looking through the bubble, they would know how we felt about each other. They would know how happy we were together." Whitney Houston was found unresponsiveon Feb. 11, 2012, by a member of her personal staff in the bathtub of her suite at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills. She was pronounced dead on the scene thereafter.

Houston's official cause of death was accidental drowning, though the Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed the 48-year-old singer had cocaine in her system.

Contributing factors of her death included heart disease and cocaine use, an investigation found. The report also found that Houston had marijuana, Xanax, Benadryl and other medication in her system.

Brown and the late Houston were married for 15 years . In his interview with ABC, Brown tells Roberts he's still deeply in love with Houston.
"For the rest of my life, I will have that feeling towards her because she was the one person that knew me – that one person who had no judgement."

Brown also opens up about his daughter Bobbi Kristina 's drug abuse – which lead toher death on July 26, 2015, nearly six months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her Roswell, Georgia, home.
"The same thing that happened to my daughter, it happened to Whitney," he tells Roberts . "The hardest thing I had to do in my life was tell my daughter to let go."
