Additionally Hart talks about finding his way to a career that he genuinely loves after a life-changing night at an open mic event

These days Kevin Hart sells out huge sports stadiums with people eagerly excited to hear his brand of comedy. However, things weren't always rosy and comfortable for Hart.

His new book, I Can't Make This Up: Life Lessons, describes Hart's early life which involved a troubled childhood with a drug-addicted father. Indeed, the book begins with a story of his father coming home immediately after being violently attacked with an axe.

Additionally Hart talks about finding his way to a career that he genuinely loves after a life-changing night at an open mic event.

"This is it. I know what I want to do. I'm in love with the spotlight. I'm in love with the stage," he says reflecting on the moment.

Hart opens up to Tom Power about his meteoric rise to fame, warts and all, revealing how his violent and poor upbringing in North Philadelphia shaped him, and how being funny became his weapon against adversity.
