Whitney Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown claims drugs weren’t involved in death

SIX years after Whitney Houston’s death, her ex-husband Bobby Brown has revealed he doesn’t believe drugs were involved the superstar’s accidental drowning, despite a coroner ruling there was cocaine in her system.

“I don’t think (Whitney) died from drugs,” Bobby Brown told Rolling Stone.

“She was really working hard on herself to try to be a sober person.”

Brown, who was married to Houston from 1992 to 2007, fears the superstar songstress died from a broken heart.

When asked upfront what the cause was, Brown simply said: “Just being broken-hearted.”

He didn’t elaborate on why.

Houston was found dead in the bathtub of her guest room at the Beverly Hilton in California on February 11, 2012.

Toxicology testing measured 0.58 micrograms of cocaine per millilitre of blood drawn from a vein in Houston’s leg during the autopsy, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said at the time.

Testing also found marijuana, the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril and the allergy medicine Benadryl in Houston’s body when she died.

A coroner’s report stated prescription drugs “did not contribute to the death.”

In the rare interview with the renowned music magazine, Brown also said he was still waiting for justice in regards to the tragic death of his daughter with Houston, Bobbi Kristina Brown, who died in 2015 after being found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Atlanta home.

Her boyfriend at the time, Nick Gordon, found the 22-year-old face down in the bath and began CPR until emergency services arrived.

She was placed in a medically induced coma, which she remained in for six months until she died in hospice care in July, 2015.

An autopsy revealed cannabis and alcohol were found in the body, along with a prescription medication used for anxiety, but cited the “underlying cause” of death as “immersion associated with drug intoxication”.

Her boyfriend Nick Gordon was found “legally responsible” for Bobbi’s wrongful death one year later and was ordered to pay $36 million to Bobbi’s estate.

Bobbi never regained consciousness to explain what had happened.

Gordon, who also lived in the townhouse, was among the people listed on the police report as being in the home when investigators arrived there.

Brown expressed frustration that Gordon was “still walking around free.”

The magazine asked what justice looked like to him, with Brown replying: “Justice? If he was locked up somewhere where somebody can rape him. “That’s just how I feel. He raped me by taking my daughter away.”
