‘KILL COPS’: LA spirals into chaos as protests escalate out of control

There are scenes of absolute mayhem in Los Angeles where rubber bullets are being fired into crowds and several police cars are being burned by rioters.

Across the US, several city leaders are now desperately urging protesters to stop the “chaos”, after police buildings were burned, patrol cars vandalised and stores looted.

More than 5000 people are involved in a tense stand-off with police in the heart of LA, where protesters have accused authorities of using “aggressive force”.

Images on Channel 9 this morning show burned police cars filling a street in West Hollywood.

Dozens of cars have been smashed and graffitied with messages like “kill cops” and “Nazi cops”.

One of the protesters told Channel 9 burning police cars was a retaliation to aggression and the use of rubber bullets from the authorities.

“The police came out here, we were quiet and peaceful, and they used aggressive force, pushing people and knocking people out, and then they start shooting, and they want us to keep peaceful and keep calm, after all what you guys have done,” she said.

“We were walking on the streets, cars were honking, and then the police came with aggressive force. That’s what made us retaliate to the guns and hitting us with batons.”

The LA Times reports thousands of people at Pan Pacific Park off Beverly Boulevard chanted “defund police” and “prosecute killer cops” and waved signs at a rally organised by Black Lives Matter and social justice group BLD PWR.
